Johann Conrad Steijn married Susanna Margaretha of the Cape 1793.01.27. According to JA Heese (Die Herkoms van die Afrikaners) she was a free black woman (C798). "Black" means anything which is non-European. Slaves were imported from several Asian countries, and these people were also called non-European.
