Arend Moelich was born in Germany. During a war his parents fled to Holland and lived at 10 Marxstraat in Rotterdam. He emigrated to the Cape and arrived at Mosselbay in 1859 from Rotterdam.

He was a teacher at Kandelaarsrivier (Oudtshoorn). His son Gerrit Johannes moved to Bonnievale, and when he retired he lived on one of the farms of this son. He was an energetic gardener and brought along trees which he planted.

Arend Moelich married Hester Jacoba Magdalena Claasen.

Hester Magdalena Jacoba was born in Herbertsdale, Mosselbay. The Fourie she married was a farmer. She was 29 years 6 months old when she died at the hom of her father at Armoed (Oudtshoorn).

Stephanus Fourie was born at Armoed (Oudtshoorn). His parents were Ockert Petrus Fourie and Johanna Hendrina Barnard. He was 27 years 5 months old when he died, thus born 1867. He died at Armoed (Oudtshoorn).

Stephanus Fortunatus Fourie's parents died young when he was about 3 years old (Stephanus at 27 and about 2 years later Hester at 29), so he grew up with his uncles. The night before she died his mother asked her father to look after her children.
