Apart from music...
My life is pretty much full with wonderful things I do. I have never been
bored, and life's too short for all the things I want to do.
As I wonder about answers to too many questions in life, I became an academic,
hoping I would find the time to find answers that satisfy me. Well, after
so long in this sector, I am still far off, but it is the journey of discovery
that's more important.
I have done research on a diversity of matters. My main philosophical
framework is complexity theory, which embraces concepts of catastrophe
theory, chaos theory, emerging systems and synchronicity (no, not in the
sense of Jung!).
Presently I am Head of School of IT at Monash South Africa (see http://sit.monash.ac.za/staff/steyn/)
I have had too many hobbies to mention, ranging from photography to genealogy,
and from cooking to stamp collecting and dancing. And of course participating
in sport. But that's another story...
